How can I protect my debit card from identity theft?

Our Photo Debit Card has your photo on it to help protect against identity theft. Like all things valuable, keep your card in a safe place. Don’t share your Personal Identification Number (PIN) with anyone – shield it from the view of others when entering your PIN at a store or ATM.

Remember…As your banker, we’ve seen experiences where a trusted friend isn’t so trustworthy. If you suspect fraud — your card has been stolen, or used by someone else — contact the Bank immediately.

Is there any time when I shouldn’t use my debit card?

Debit cards can be used to make purchases or to withdraw money from your account by using it at an ATM or at a point-of-sale terminal. (That’s when you buy something and the machine asks you if you want cash back.) Avoid using your debit card for recurring monthly payments – online subscriptions, satellite/cable TV services, cell phone bills, etc. Although it may sound like a great idea, these recurring monthly payments are often difficult to stop and may result in problems – like an overdraft.

No-Fee ATM/Debit Card

If you’re a student, chances are, money is tight. That’s why Iowa State Bank offers an ATM or debit card to students without charging a monthly maintenance fee. It’s how we try to give students a break. The real world will come soon enough. Study hard. Take a break and use your Iowa State Bank ATM or Debit Card.

If you’re out of town, or at college and can’t use an Iowa State Bank ATM, remember, there is no ATM surcharge at ATMs that display the Privileged Status symbol.
