On Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. CT Money Smart Week will host “Understanding Social Security Retirement, Spouse, and Survivor Benefits.” This virtual event is part of Money Smart Week, a week-long initiative that aims to help people, especially those hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, better manage their personal finances through the coordinated efforts of experts and educators across the country.

Social Security touches the lives of every American and is a vital part of any financial plan. Securing today and tomorrow starts with being informed.

In this session with the Social Security Administration:

  • Learn the entitlement factors for retirement, spouse, ex-spouse, and survivor benefits.
  • Gain an understanding of the options to start benefits at various ages and the effect of wages on them.
  • Expand your knowledge of Social Security’s online tools and resources at www.ssa.gov, including applying for benefits.
