When Bishop Garrigan athletes hit the hardwood at the 2026 state basketball tournaments—both the boys and girls teams—fans showed up in their state basketball apparel. Thanks to those state basketball apparel sales, Iowa State Bank donated a combined $5,904 to the Bishop Garrigan boys and girls basketball program with a $2,864 donation check to the girls team and a $3,040 check to the boys team.

Since 2018, Iowa State Bank of Algona has pitched in when student-athletes punch their ticket to state. Here’s how it works: the bank’s logo is featured on fundraiser apparel, and for every item sold, the school earns a donation from the bank.

Since the program’s inception, Iowa State Bank has donated $63,690 to support Bishop Garrigan student-athletes across multiple sports. “We started this program back when the seniors on these teams were in fifth grade—and it’s been a joy to watch them grow and succeed,” said Laurie Vitzthum, Chairman, CEO & President of Iowa State Bank. “We’re proud to celebrate our students and help keep that school spirit going strong.”
