Good Cybersecurity Practices:

  • Keep all software, installed apps, and operating systems up to date
  • Protect your PC with a personal firewall, spam filter, and anti-virus software
  • Never disclose personal or financial information via text message, phone call, or email.
  • Treat URLs or links found in emails and QR codes with suspicion.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth function, including the “discoverable” feature, when not in use.

eBanking Security Reminders:

  • Be careful using public WiFi hotspots. This puts your personal and financial information, such as banking credentials, at risk.
  • When on your mobile device, use our mobile app rather than a browser for banking when possible as this decreases the risk for phishing, website spoofing, and man-in-the-middle attacks.
  • Although no private information is transmitted via text, it is good practice to delete text messages from the bank once you are through with them.
  • Don’t just close out! Log off when you finish using Mobile or Online Banking.

Mobile Banking Security Features:

  • Mobile Banking and Online Banking use the same security standards. No private information is transmitted via text.
  • Account nicknames are displayed rather than account numbers.
  • No unencrypted information is stored on your device.
  • Deposits made thorugh our BankISB app are protected by the highest financial industry standards. The check images of the deposit do NOT stay on your phone.
  • Bill Payer does not allow billers to be created using Mobile Banking; only billers previously created on Online Banking can be paid.
  • Password recovery is not allowed through Mobile Banking.

If your phone is lost or stolen, you can remove it from Mobile Banking by logging into Online Banking, going to “Profile”, edit/enroll in “Mobile Banking”, “My Devices”, select ‘Stop using this device for Mobile Banking” and click “Go”.

Mobile Device Security Tips:

  • Set a password or passcode for your phone and do not share it
  • QR codes (Quick Response codes) are two-dimensional barcodes that can be scanned with a mobile device to gain quick access to online information.
  • QR codes can be used by criminals to direct you to websites requesting personal or financial information or corrupt your mobile device.
  • Download all mobile apps from reputable sources, including a QR code scanner that will check for malicious content. Look at the app description for this capability and other security features before downloading.
  • Do not “jailbreak” or “root” your device as carrier and manufacturer restrictions are designed for your security.
  • Set an “idle-timeout” that will automatically lock your phone when not in use after a designated period of time.
