Hoover joined Iowa State Bank in 2025, but her commitment to service stretches far beyond her time at the bank. She is actively involved in two impactful organizations: the Iowa Soldier & Family Readiness Group (SFRG) and Moving Veterans Forward (MVF).
Supporting Soldiers & Families Through SFRG
Hoover’s work with the SFRG started long before she became its leader. Having supported military families during previous deployments—and having personally navigated the challenges of being a military spouse—she stepped into the coordinator role when the opportunity arose. In this role, she ensures that important information flows from the military command to soldiers’ families, plans events that build community, and provides guidance and resources during life events or times of need. When Alpha Company deployed to Iraq in May 2025, she jumped into action as well. One of Hoover’s first projects touched many families and their children. Hoover helped to secure and distribute “daddy dolls” that portray a child’s soldier parent in the form of a doll complete with the soldier’s picture and a button that activates a voice message from their hero.
During the recent Christmas season, Hoover helped organize a mission to support families of deployed soldiers. When she shared this effort at Iowa State Bank, the response was immediate and overwhelming: employees and the bank itself contributed monetary support, as well as assisted with some of the logistics. It was community support in its purest form—something Hoover says is an Iowa and Kossuth County blessing.
Serving Veterans Through Moving Veterans Forward
In addition, Hoover serves on the Board of Directors for Moving Veterans Forward (MVF), an organization with strong Kossuth County ties dedicated to helping veterans rebuild their lives after leaving the military. Her involvement began after volunteering at several MVF events. She quickly recognized both the need—and the impact—of the organization’s mission.Volunteers receive donated items, organize the warehouse, plan events, and support veterans and their families. MVF provides essentials such as household items, computer access, and even a workout room. But the support goes far beyond physical resources. The organization helps veterans transition to stable housing and aids with job applications, resume support and even clothing and essentials to begin civilian employment. “These veterans have incredible skills and are tremendous assets to our community,” Hoover shared. “Sometimes they just need a little assistance getting transitioned.”
A Mission Rooted in Personal Experience
As the spouse of a veteran, Hoover has seen firsthand the challenges faced by service members and their families. Many veterans—especially those living with PTSD or service-related disabilities—struggle to ask for help. But when they do, Hoover says witnessing their gratitude makes every hour of volunteering worthwhile. Her passion is clear: “Veterans have sacrificed and risked so much. Supporting them is the very least I can do.”
Strengthening the Community, One Act of Service at a Time
Hoover believes that unless someone is directly connected to the military community, they may never fully understand the experiences and sacrifices veterans endure. That’s why she’s committed not only to helping veterans and families directly, but also to educating others and inspiring them to get involved. She’s quick to remind people that monetary donations, while appreciated, aren’t the only way to make a difference. Volunteering at events, donating gently used household items, or simply spreading the word about these organizations can have a meaningful impact.
“We’ve been incredibly blessed with community support across Iowa,” she said, noting that Kossuth County in particular has many generous donors. “That support is what makes our mission possible.”
